Immortal 8

Tomorrow

Publisher diary 8/8

Here we have reached the end of our publisher diary dedicated to Immortal 8. We hope that you have now a better understanding of our game and its universe, although there is still much to say ... This final article will reveal some rather special cards, starting with the last non-revealed Immortal, Tomorrow !

Let’s not prolong the suspense any longer and allow us to present you the infamous power of Tomorrow. At the end of a game Tomorrow can score up to 15 VP if he manages to guess all the Immortals in play. How does it work ? During the Victory Phase, Tomorrow is the 2nd Immortal to be revealed (Justice being the 1st one). Before we count his scoring he will investigate and attempt to guess which Immortals his opponents are embodying. To that end he has the right to use one (and only one) wildcard and will then be able to look at the Immortal card of the player of his choice. If he succeeds and guess all the Immortals he scores 15 VP, or 10 VP if he used his wildcard. On the other hand, if he makes even one wrong guess he doesn’t earn any point. Hence, Tomorrow has to be very careful as the slightest mistake is fatal to him !

This power is double-edged as in the event of a tie at the end of the game, Tomorrow loses against all the other Immortals ! You will then often be forced to take the risk to not use your wildcard and hope to win !

As his scoring mainly depends on his analysis of the game, Tomorrow’s strategy is rather loose. We would advise you not to play Tomorrow for your first game. But don’t you worry as soon as you played once you can easily put it in play !

Tomorrow brings a great deal of fun to Immortal 8 because it will allow players to mess around by playing a double game. Indeed, players can bluff about the Immortal they embody, whether by the choices they make during the Draft or simply by speaking throughout the game !

Although there are some random aspects in the game, such as the Incredible Market of Xi’an or the capacity to loot, without Tomorrow Immortal 8 would be an optimization game with few elements of surprises.

  • Alpha, the Hero numbered one, commander in chief of Goan Sul
  • Goan Sul’s Battering Ram, a Building rather mobile !

Speaking of which, now that we mentioned the looting let’s go through it in more details.

The Incredible Market and the capacity to loot are both made possible thanks to a new type of Civilization cards : the trade cards. There are 18 cards of that type, they are placed face down in a separate deck. The latter lets you trade with Apothecaries, Blacksmiths, Pawnbrokers, Runes Traffickers and even the mysterious Byun Hyung Ja. Trade cards are very beneficial since they can allow you to win a Civilization token (Science, Military or Chaos), 2 gold coins and even a diamond !

The ability to loot is reserved to Military cards, there are 2 of them that have that power :

Looting grants you access to the trade deck. In other words, it allows you to reveal the first trade card and to choose whether you want to win what comes with it or not. The Incredible market isn’t a looting card for 2 reasons. Firstly, by activating it you reveal not 1 but 2 cards of the trade deck. Secondly, you are obliged to accept the bonus of one of these 2 cards. You would ask why refuse something given for free ? Well let's say you are Goan Sul and you have to choose between a Science and a Chaos token, trust me you are not too pleased... In that sense the Market can sometimes be not that incredible !

As a bonus track, as this article is after all dedicated to an Immortal of Chaos, here is the 2nd Wonder of Chaos : The Orb of Chaos. The Orb has the unique and incredible power to copy the action from one of your opponent’s Heroes ! It is a very attractive card, especially with Heroes such as Lion ...

As you now know you can profit from your opponent's Heroes, we could talk about Galmi’s Fortress, an interesting combo to make, but we will spare you and keep some surprises for later ...

We would like to thank all of you who took the time to go through these 8 articles. We hope that you enjoyed reading them and that you have now a good overview of the game.
